Soft Burnt Red Smokey Makeup Look Using the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

One of the summer’s many makeup news that has been all over Instagram lately is the Naked Heat palette from Urban Decay. When I first saw this I thought I was dreaming. Besides the fact that it was a new Urban Decay Naked palette (I’m living for them) the shades were like made for me! My red hair and blue eyes are complemented so nicely by these sort of bronzy reds you can find in the palette.

But… I live in Sweden. Secounds after my excitement I realised that I would have to wait a few extra weeks for the palette to be added to my collection. That’s just the way it is. Makeup is for some reason not a priority in this oblong country. I have made peace with that. But I can’t say it didn’t itch every time I saw the beautiful creation feature in post after post…

The weeks past and all of the sudden I saw the palette with my own eyes. I couldn’t believe it! It had made it to Sweden! Without even swatching nor looking at the price tag I grabbed it and moved to the register to pay. It’s silly how much joy that purchase brought me. I now realise that I’ve been writing a novel about my tragic story and you are probably only interested in the look so I’m going to wrap things up… If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your patience, the end.

Golden Eye Makeup Look w/ Hot Pink Eyeliner

In the time of summer I’m really experimental when it comes to makeup. I’m almost always in the mood to do something a bit more out there than I normally would. I don’t know if it’s the change of ambience or weather, but something just brings that side out of me.

Today I decided to try a hot pink eyeliner. Eyeliner is one of those things that’s easy to experiment with, you simply change the colour which will change the whole look. I paired the pink with a golden eyeshadow which I think resulted in a very nice evening look. It almost got that sunset vibe to it without being too kabow, if you know what I mean. Furthermore it brought out the blue in my eyes very nicely!

Coral Pink/Orange Makeup Look

Some days I feel very strongly for the YOLO expression. I do without thinking, I make without restricting and simply follow my instincts. Should I watch another episode? No, but hey, YOLO. Should I really buy this bag? No, but hey, YOLO. Should I eat pizza for breakfast? No, but hey, YOLO.

Today is one of those days. This morning when I was getting ready to go into town, I spotted this bright coral pink orange-ish blush that I had never used. Because even though I had fallen in love with the colour it is quite intimidating. You might only be a few sweeps from turning into Ronald McDonald. But this morning I thought: but hey, YOLO.

Luckily I didn’t turn into a clown, but rather a summery chic playful gal. I put some of the same blush in the outer corner of my eyes and complemented with a lipstick in a similar shade which really pulled it all together.

5 Steps to a Fresh Glowy Summer Base

During the summer I like to keep my makeup light. This especially when it comes to my base. Today I thought I would give you my not so secret recipe to the perfect base for summer including some of my favourite products for this season. It’s fresh, light and gives you that natural summer glow in less than five minutes. You’re welcome!

6452bdf5-282e-45ce-b721-ede6ea48238d

1. Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream

Trade the foundation for a BB or CC cream to even out the skin tone without it feeling like you’re wearing more than a moisturizer. The Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream has been my go to for years. It’s cheap, has SPF 15 and covers my redness but not my freckles (entirely, but trust me, it’s a rare combination). Complement with concealer and powder if needed.

2. Benefit Hoola Bronzer

Use the Hoola bronzer to bronze up your face and softly define your cheek bones. You could trade this for a bronzer with shimmer in it to take the glow even further, but I find that a matte bronzer keeps the look on the more natural side which was what I was going for in this look.

3. Soap & Glory Peach Party Blush Brick

This blush brick givs your cheeks a subtle peach shade with the most beautiful glow to it. I’m using this all year around but in the summer time it’s just something special about how it looks on the skin. Maybe it’s the tan, maybe it’s the light, I don’t know. But I love it either way and if you haven’t tried it yet, I definitely think you should.

4. Laura Mercier Peach Mosaic Shimmer Bloc

I know it’s expensive and I’m sure there is a cheaper dupe for this product, but this is my holy grail. Depending on which shades you use and how much you put on your brush you can achieve everything from a natural glow to a glow that can be seen from space. And no matter how you use this product, it will never look bad. For this look I gently swept the lightest shade and the shade on the middle left on my cheekbones, nose, forehead and chin.

5. The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Spritz

This face spritz instantly makes me feel a bit more confident and ready to deal with anything that comes my way. It might not make a mayor impact on your makeup, but you and your skin will feel more refreshed and energised than ever after a few spritzes of this. I think it’s important to remember that looking good isn’t just about how you actually look. It’s more about how you feel. If you feel good and confident people will tell by your aura and charisma and automatically find you more attractive. Not that it matters what others think, but feeling good does.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this post and found it somewhat inspiring. Stay original, gorgeous! xoxo

Simple Eye Makeup Look With Colour Twist

As I’ve written in one of my previous posts (here) I tend to go safe when I choose what colours to wear on my eyes. I’m convinced that I’m not the only shy little bird who actually would want to be more daring when it comes to this matter but simply does not have the courage to. I believe the answer lies in baby steps. You don’t have to start with a bright yellow smoky eye with extra sequins and peacock feathers (that would be kind of awesome though), no, adding a navy blue eyeliner to your regular look will work just fine. You will get to the peacock stage eventually (maybe not, but again, it would be kind of awesome). To start you off I’m bringing you this look. Super simple with a slight colour twist.

Products used:

  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette (Naked & Buck in the crease, Sin on the lid and Virgin as highlight)
  • Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner in Blue
  • Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
  • Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil in Nutmeg Brown

Red & Yellow/Gold Cut Crease

Products used:

  • Maybelline Colour Senasational Lipstick in 470 Red Revolution (as base for the red part of the crease)
  • IsaDora Eye Shadow Quartet in 48 Bronzing Plum (red & dark purple in crease & under eye, yellow/gold on lid)
  • IsaDora Glitter Eyeliner in 30 Gold (to make the cut crease nice and clean),
  • L’oréal Paris Super Liner
  • IsaDora Twist-Up Metallic Eye Pen in 44 Golden Khaki (topped with yellow shadow)
  • Sleek Highlighting Palette in Solstice (Subsolar in tear duct area & under brow)
  • Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
  • Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil in 02 Nutmeg Brown.

Soft Purple Smokey Eye Using Tarteist Paint Palette

We don’t have the makeup brand Tarte here in Sweden, so when I heard that my mother was going to Chicago for a conference I didn’t hesitate to wish for the beautiful Tarteist Paint Palette. She did actually fulfill my wish by bringing the palette home and after getting it it did not take long before I started playing around with it. I created this soft purple smokey eye with the shadows and also used bronzer, highlighter, mascara, eyeliner and lip paint from the set. A review of the set is coming soon, I’m just going to try out different looks and learn how to use the products in the best way first.

Face: Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (15), Mac Mineralize Concealer (NW15), Max Factor Miracle Match Foundation (45 Warm Almond), IsaDora Velvet Touch Compact Powder (09 Nude Sand), Makeup Revolution Cream Contour Palette, Tarte Tarteist Paint Palette Bronzer (Provocative on cheekbones) & Highlighter (Authentic).
Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Tarteist Paint Palette Eyeshadows (Glitter Glue in inner corner & browbone, Fresco as transition shade, Selfie Portrait on centre lid, One Too Manet in outer v, Hot MoMa on inner and outer lid, Stained Glass in crease), Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara & So Fine Micro Liner. Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil.

Lips: Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint (no shade name found).

Tip! I like to make a less bold eyeliner (in this case basically just a wing) for these kinds of looks to avoid stealing to much focus from the eyeshadow. You can also just smudge a darker eyeshadow along the lash line to get an even smokier look and enhance the rest.

All Pink Makeup Look

With lip colour as an exception, I tend to go safe when it comes to makeup colours. I’ve always wanted to be brave enough to rock an orange liner or bright blue eyeshadow but then it always ends up in taupes and coppers anyway. But yesterday when I opened my eyeshadow drawer I found the most gorgeous bright pink eyeshadow. I was going to a birthday party later that evening which felt like the perfect occasion to wear it, which was exactly what I did, and I was actually quite pleased with how it turned out!

Face: Emite Makeup Diamond Heart Face Primer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (15), Mac Mineralize Concealer (NW15), Max Factor Miracle Match Foundation (45 Warm Almond), IsaDora Velvet Touch Compact Powder (09 Nude Sand), Makeup Revolution Cream Contour Palette, Nars Bronzer (Laguna), So Susan Universal Blush, Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc (Peach Mosaic)

Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Technic Electric Palette (third colour from the left on the bottom row used on the lid), Too Faced Le Grand Palais (Cobblestone in crease, Belle Femme in outer v), L’oréal Paris Super Liner Ultra Precision, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, Ardell False Lashes (110), Sephora Retractable Brow Pencil (02 Nutmeg Brown)

Lips: IsaDora Soft Touch Lipstick (43 Think Pink)
